Athletic Republic delivers on-field success through our unique combination of science-based performance training protocols, proprietary equipment and technology, and the education and experience of our highly qualified trainers.

The training tools and programs are designed to take the athlete beyond ground-based training limitations, teaching the brain to send stronger, more precise signals to the muscles.

Qualified Trainers

Our certified, experienced trainers all share a passion for helping our athletes perform at their best. By keeping our ratio of athletes to trainers low, we enable them to easily monitor and modify training programs.

Lily Higman

Lily Higman is Athletic Republic San Diego’s Co-Owner and General Manger. Lily’s motivation to starting an Athletic Republic in San Diego is through her experiences with her own student athletes. Lily‘s two daughters played volleyball in high school and her oldest continues to play Club Volleyball at USC. Her youngest (son) is a four-year varsity starter on the Mission Bay High school football team and currently plays linebacker. For years she sought training for her kids and never found one place where they could all go. Athletic Republic’s ability to train athletes for all sports, and to track their improvements on a regular basis will be an amazing tool for athletes at any age.

Lily started her career in New York at a top PR/ad agency. After graduate school, she transitioned into Next Generation (VoIP) Telecom product development and management. Prior to settling down to have three children, she served as the Executive Director of the International Packet Communications Consortium. Lily has also dabbled in Real Estate, started her own baby clothing company, and currently serves on several boards of non-profit organizations throughout San Diego.

Lily has a B.A. in International Affairs from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a MIM/MBA from the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management.

Andrea Rucke

Andrea Rucke is the Head Trainer and Co-owner of Athletic Republic San Diego, pictured here with her two biggest inspirations — her children, both young athletes in Point Loma.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Andrea’s journey began as a high school athlete in Minnesota, where she competed in volleyball and raced on the slalom ski team. She continued her passion at the collegiate level, playing Division II volleyball in New Mexico. After a successful career in Tech, she felt called to return to her first love: athletics.

This time, she stepped onto the other side of the game — coaching.

Today, Andrea trains both youth and adults in volleyball, group fitness, and personal training. Her coaching philosophy is built on challenging limits, embracing the fun in hard work, and always striving for the next level of achievement.

For Andrea, the greatest reward is inspiring young athletes to discover their potential and become the best versions of themselves — in sports and in life.
